St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Brampton, Ontario
On February 12, the Junior and Senior St. Thomas Aquinas Girls Volleyball teams traveled to Mayfield for its tournament.
The Junior squad, missing several regulars, played hard and made the playoffs, but lost in a hard fought 3 set match.
The Senior Cardinals ended up in second place in their division, and went into the playoffs against the other division
first place Holy Name Of Mary. The teams split the first 2 sets, and the Cardinals were down 14-10 in the 3rd, before
reeling off 6 straight points and taking the set and match 2 sets to 1. In the finals against the host Mayfield Mavericks,
Aquinas dominated the 1st set 25-11, but lost the 2nd by 25-19. In a hard fought 3rd set, the Cardinals fought hard and
edged the Mavericks 15-12 to win the tournament. Congratulations to both teams on a long day, but a successful day.
