St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Brampton, Ontario
Black History Month
February 22, 2011
|
St. Thomas Aquinas' Black History Month Assembly featured the poet and spoken word artist Dwayne Morgan,
who has worked with such artists as k-os, Alicia Keys, Kardinal Offishal, Tevin Campbell and Nelly Furtado.
He has won several Urban Music Awards and the Harry Jerome Award for Excellence in the Arts.
For the students at Aquinas, he combined several of his poems with a message of self-esteem, love and personal
responsibility. The assembly ended with a student poem, and a trio's musical presentation of Bob Marley's classic Redemption Song.
