Electra
April 30, 2014

The Grade 12 RAP Drama class presented the ancient Greek drama Electra. The story involves King Agamemnon of Argos sacrificing his eldest daughter to bring clear winds for travel, a really good reason. Unsurprisingly, the King's wife Clytemnestra does not take that well, and she and her lover Aegisthus kill Agamemnon in a rage. Their second daughter, Electra, gave Agamemnon's infant son Orestes to their most loyal servant to shield him from death. Electra mourns her father's death and is punished for it, complains a lot, and waits for Orestes return to bring punishment and suffering to mommy and her sister Chrysothemis, who has gone along with the regime of new King Aegisthus. Here are a few pictures.
