St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Brampton, Ontario Robbie Smith Grey Cup Tour January 11, 2023 Former Aquinas student Robbie Smith returned with the Grey Cup, after his Toronto Argos crushed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23. Perhaps crushed is an overstatement. Robbie only started playing football at Aquinas in Grade 10, went to Wilfrid Laurier University, was drafted 9th in the 2nd round in 2019, and is now a Grey Cup Champion, partly because of his key block of Winnipeg's field goal attempt in the final minute to preserve the victory. Coach Drake mentioned Robbie has been successful primarily because of his determination and hard work, often finding him in the Aquinas weight room at 6:30 a.m. when he got to school. Coach Huh and several of Robbie's Aquinas teammates returned to congratulate him. Here are a few pictures from the day.
