Below: Picture 1 is a statue in the picturesque Plaza de Catalunya, often used for street protests and as a citizen meeting place.
Pictures 2 and 3 show views along Las Ramblas, the fancy shopping street of Barcelona in the old city.
Pictures 4 and 11 shows parts of the Santa Maria del Pi, a gothic church completed in 1391.
Picture 5 features the Catalan flag, which many building flew. There is a Catalan separatist movement hoping to establish a Catalan country,
especially due to the area's brutal treatment under Spanish dictator Franco 1939 to 1975. The Spanish refuses to allow a vote regarding separation.
Pictures 6 to 10 shows the narrow streets and sometimes uniquely shaped buildings in the old city, the "Barri Gòtic" gothic part of Barcelona.
Picture 12 shows a view of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia (Barcelona Cathderal), completed in 1448.
