Fourteen travelers including mom, Cheryl, Phil, Scott, Heather, Stephanie, Brittany, Kristen, Tristan, Justin, Rachel, Andrew, Charlotte, Winona Ryder,
Halle Berry, Kristen Bell and myself took a trip to the Dominican Republic for a week. We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe resort near Punta Cana,
with 756 rooms, 8 bars, 3 pools, 7 a la carte and 3 buffet restaurants and more. We landed in the Dominican on Canada Day, and the resort provided
a Canada Day celebration with fireworks in the evening. The flight on Air Transat left at 6:15 a.m. from Pearson International, and everyone arrived at
the airport by 3:15 a.m. to check in and sit around at the gate waiting to get on the plane and takeoff. The airport is surprisingly busy in the middle of the night.
At the resort, after a prolonged check-in and a nice lunch at the Punta Cana buffet (we did get our welcome drink (Miami Vices)), we all got into our rooms, had dinner
and then hung around the Canada Day celebration area. A few took in the Magic Show and the fireworks show before heading to our rooms to get much needed sleep.
