Egypt: Day 1
June 17, 2022

On Day 1, I flew into Heathrow, London, then on to Cairo for a tour of Egypt, featuring Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and a cruise along the Nile for 3 days. Cairo has a population of over 23 million.

Arriving late afternoon, I got there in time to be briefed by our tour guide Ahmed (pronounced Awk-med) Wahab, who went to university to study Egyptology, studying at the Egyptian Museum (which we visited), knew a whole lot about Egyptian history, and could be shown pretty much any wall of hieroglyphs. There were lots of supplementary tours I could book on top Abu Simbel, which I had booked extra with Wingbuddy when I first booked the tour, and they were a night tour by carriage of Luxor, air balloons over Luxor I later learned would be at sunrise, and a sailing and Elephantine Island tour in Aswan.
