Above: Flying low over the lush fields in west Luxor, irrigated by water from the Nile River.
1, 2 and 7 show the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, built around 1350 BC. They stand at the front of the ruined
Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III, the largest temple in the Theban (Luxor) Necropolis. The statues contain 107 Roman-era inscriptions in Greek and
Latin from around 20 to 250 AD. Many of these inscriptions on the northernmost statue make reference to the Greek mythological King Memnon,
whom the statues originally (but erroneously) were thought to represent.
3 to 5 show moi, Emina and Karl.
6 all the air balloons have taken off.
8 is a closeup of west Luxor homes.
9 and 10 show the sun rising in the east.
