On Day 5, we "enjoyed" the long trek from Fes to Erfoud in the Sahara Desert. We left at 7:30 a.m. and arrived at our hotel in Erfoud at 5:30 p.m., stopping only for
lunch and breaks. On our first break we stopped at Ifrane, a city established in 1928 by the French while Morocco was a French protectorate, as a alpine style resort town
primarily for the members of the administration. On later breaks, we saw monkeys in Ifrane National Park, drove through the Atlas Mountains along side the Ziz River, stopped in the
town of Zaida for a break, and had lunch at a Kasbah outside of Midelt. We continued to the city of Errachidia, named in 1975 in honour of the son of King Hassan II, and finally landed in
the desert town of Erfoud. And along the way ... lots of sheep all over, plus a few donkeys and camels.
