Above: The 11th century ancient village of Ait Benhaddou, is a Ksar (fortified city) on the former caravan route from the Sahara Desert to Marrakech.
Now it is mostly uninhabited and used for tourists and film/TV production (currently Gladiator 2 is being filmed here). The homes and shops in the village have walls
made exclusively of clay, mud and straw, and almost entirely date from the 17th century and beyond.
