Lisa, Dana, Sydney, Devon, Emily, Cadence and myself enjoyed an afternoon with a few thousand close friends in downtown Ottawa to celebrate Canada Day, Canada's 150th birthday.
We didn't even try to get on Parliament Hill - the lineups to go through security were said to be 3 to 4 hours long. There was considerable security around the city
- police with rifles, snipers on top of several buildings, army vehicles with soldiers and city vehicles blocking streets. We hung out near the market and across from Parliament Hill,
had a nice lunch, enjoyed some quite good gelato that could be legitimately sold in Firenze, walked around the city for about three hours, and then left to go back to the Powell
residence to enjoy the pool, leaving just before the torrential rains hit. |
