Ottawa BluesFest
July 7, 2018

Spent a few days in Ottawa in early July. We went to the Shawn Mendes concert (Chromeo was on before with a solid dance beat and a ridiculous amount of autotune,
so we toured the BluesFest grounds) with Lisa and Emily Powell, Sydney joining us after her delightful Beavertales shift ended. The concert wasn't bad at all.
Quite a talented guy, with a half-dozen solid tunes, although the best was his cover of Frank Ocean's "Thinking About You" where he played solo on the piano.
Certainly better than Duran Duran that I saw the last time I was at BluesFest, who have about three listenable songs, and they're all ballads.
Before going to the concert, we had sushi
at Sushi Express in the Ottawa Market area, and decadent chocolate desserts at Cacao 70. But prior to that we experienced shopping at Fluevog, a shoe store
with handmade shoes designed by John Fluevog, where the motto written on the wall announces that some people avoid standing out, and the others wear Fluevogs.
I'm with the former group. |
