Above: Cruising along the Nile River through the Western Desert ... a thin strip of palm trees and lush green foliage, and then barren desert and hills.
1 to 3 show the top deck and the large group watching us going through the Esna locks, including Emina and Karl in #3.
4 and 5 show us approaching the Esna lock on the left, and it beginning to open.
6 to 9 show the lock as the water descends to meet the water level on the north side. And yes, a pair of towel sellers did follow us into the lock.
10 shows the lock door opening for us to continue on our journey.
11 shows the top deck of our cruise ship, with the tanning area and pool behind.
