1 to 4, 8 to 10 show the Faial valley, including a quite old brick bridge in #2.
5 to 7 show examples of the terraced farming. Note that homes don't have yards or grass very often (#5 being an exception). They grow
their crops on often every inch of available land right beside the home. Many young people do not wish to farm, and leave for the mainland
for construction or other jobs, or to attend university. So when the older people pass away, homes and fields are sometimes abandoned.
