Above: On the Panama Canal ... this crane was owned by the Americans. In the 1999 handover of the canal to Panama, the Americans did not want
to give it to Germany, so they sold it to Panama for $1.
1 to 11 ... our motor boat approaches an island. And on the island are several White-Faced Capuchin Monkeys, one of three monkey species in the Gatun Lake area.
They are curious, playful and intelligent and most likely of the three species to approach a boat, and a couple did.
The monkeys approach the Gamboa motor boats with caution, but will come right on the front deck because they anticipate they will be fed (2-9), while
another monkey is wary, and stays in the trees (10). The guide said there were 6 Capuchin Monkeys on this island, sometimes called Monkey Island.
