Picture 3 is the Panthéon, originally a church dedicated to St. Genevieve and containing her relics
but now functions as a secular mausoleum containing the remains of famous French citizens.
Pictures 4 to 11 show views in front of, and within the courtyard of La Sorbonne, part of the
Université de Paris system, founded in 1150 and originally chartered by King Phillip II in 1200
as a university, the third oldest university in the world (after Fez, Morocco and Bologna,
Italy respecitively). The paintings depict the Feast of Lendit, by J. J. Weerts.
