Paris: Day 5
June 15, 2022

On Day 5, I was supposed to be going on a van trip to Château de Fontainebleau and Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, but they overbooked the trip. So I moved up going to the picturesque village of Auvers-sur-Oise, about 27 km. north of the centre of Paris on the Seine River. Many artists have lived and painted here to paint landscapes and rural life, from Charles-François Daubigny and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot to Paul Cézanne and Camille Pissarro, but Auvers-sur-Oise is most famous as the place where Vincent van Gogh lived his final 70 days in 1890 before his suicide, creating over 80 paintings during that short time.
