This page highlights the massive Duomo in Florence, or the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, began in 1296 and structurally completed and consecrated in 1436,
with dome engineered and completed by Filippo Brunelleschi, but interior work continued decades afterwards.
The exterior is made of white, green and reddish-pink marble.
The panoramic and picture four detail some of the fine carvings and paintings on the exterior, this one above the main front door.
Picture five is a still-working 24 hour clock.
Picture six shows Dante Alighieri, of Dante's Inferno fame, poised between purgatory and Florence.
Picture seven shows the epic frescoes on the dome ceiling.
