1 to 4 show one of the old thatched roof buildings still in use as a residence, away from the centre of the town.
The owner of this residence is cutting sugar cane in her backyard. Rarely does one see lawns beside residences (I saw it once outside Funchal).
Available land is planted entirely with garden vegetables, banana plants or some other commercially viable agricultural product.
5 and 9 show residences within Santana.
6, 7, 8 and 10 show crops being grown within the town of Santana, often right beside residences.
