El Valle de Antón (Anton Valley), Panamá

One of my two day trips in Panama was to El Valle de Antón, or the Anton Valley. The valley is a caldera of an ancient volcano, with the mountains around the valley the
remnants of the volcano rim. The town of about 7,600 (2023 census) is located in the flat wide caldera that is about 6 km wide, located about 25 km northwest of the
Interamerican Highway. The volcano is inactive ... there is evidence that it erupted as recently as about 300,000 years ago, which is just a little bit
before I was born.
We visited the town and its Sunday market, as well as El Nispero Zoo, and Chorro Macho waterfalls in the rainforest, with a natural mountain water spring pool to swim/relax in.
