Above: A map of the Aswan High Dam, and a schematic of how the dam works.
1 and 6 show view while driving through Aswan.
2 to 5 show the Unfinished Obelisk, 1/3 larger than any ancient Egyptian obelisk ever erected. If finished it would have measured around 137.0 ft. tall,
and would have weighed nearly 1,090 tonnes, a weight equal to about 200 African elephants.
7 shows the Egyptian-Soviet Friendship Monument, five petal-like components drag together and lift a circle, symbolizing friendship and peace,
basically because the British and American banks wouldn't finance the construction of the Aswan High Dam, and the Soviet Union did.
8 is a map of the Nile River Basin, the source of the water that feeds Lake Nasser.
