Hamilton Dibble Jessup lead the militia of locals, the "Prescott Volunteer Company" capturing the leader of the rebel forces
at the Battle of the Windmill. After the 1837-1838 rebellions,
defeated rebels snuck into the U.S. to hide, forming Hunters' Lodges of "patriots". In 1838 these rebels and supporters
attempted to invade Canada. British soldiers, the American army and these local militia fought at the
Battle of Windmill, thwarting the Hunter invasion. |
