Two models of Fort Wellington ... the first around 1813, the second around 1839. On the 3rd floor, the floorboard could be opened up for British

In 1858, many Irish American were upset that Great Britain still
controlled Ireland, and they formed the Fenians, a secret society. By 1865 there were over 10,000 civil war veterans in the society, and they
thought it would be a fine idea to invade Canada, and then trade Canada back for Irish independence. Big surprise, they described themselves
as "patriots" too. The Fenians conducted raids in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick, ultimately unsuccessful in taking over Canada as a hostage.
